D102 Aptakisic Students Earn Highest Award at State Science Expo

On May 5, Aptakisic science students Ruchi and Sushmetha participated in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) Exposition at the University of Illinois in Champaign. There were over 1000 projects and these two D102 students earned the highest award level, gold, for both the paper and project experiment presentations. The two girls also earned Best in Category from Project Session indicating that their project was the best of all others in their category at the junior high level. Congratulations!

Meridian Students Ease Fourth Graders' Transition to School

MerMascot2012On April 2, fourth graders visited Meridian Middle School and received a warm welcome, met Meridian's mascot, got a glimpse of extracurricular activities, and heard sixth graders share "What to expect in middle school." The chorus, orchestra and band performed as part of the program, and the sixth graders presented detailed information using slides presentation format.

Orchestra students from grades five through eight recently performed at Stevenson High School's Performing Arts Center. The Meridian beginning orchestra played Samba La Bamba, Rhythm "N" Blues, and Beethoven's Ninth (Ode to Joy). The Meridian concert orchestra played Mama Don't 'Low (No Fiddle Playin' 'Round Here) and Batman Theme

Parents of Incoming Fifth Graders Attended Meridian Orientation in Preparation for Upcoming School Year

Meridian Principal Rebecca Jenkins shared a summary of next year's initiatives and how these would impact Meridian students. Mrs. Jenkins also outlined the curriculum, extracurricular opportunities, and "What to expect in middle school."
